We all know that the best foods for our diet plans are lean meats, whole grains and healthy fats. These would be the foods that give us all protein along with energy. They keep our bodies balanced nutritionally but don't stuff us full of empty calories that will later have to be burned off at the gym. Did you already know, though, that a few of the foods you are eating that are supposed to be perfectly acceptable by dietary standards, could be keeping you from losing weight at a good pace? They can also be making you gain additional pounds! Here are a few of the foods which may be undermining your diet work.
Sports Drinks do not actually help you. You've probably been thinking that the sports drink is the proper way to help your system feel much better after a workout. Many doctors agree, nevertheless, that if your workout is under ninety minutes, water is a fine way to do this. Sports drinks are filled with calories and sugar and a heap of other stuff like artificial flavors and colors that will defeat any of your attempts at eating a natural and healthy diet. Try having some chocolate milk as a substitute. The sugar in chocolate can help your muscles start to fix themselves plus the calcium in the milk will strengthen your bones.
You don't need protein shakes. So many people assume that consuming a protein shake is a good way to end cravings when it isn't meal time. The truth of the matter is that if you are already eating a balanced diet all the protein shake does is overload your system with protein. Contrary to popular thinking, protein isn't going to get stored as muscle, it gets stored as fat. This means that if you have already ingested too much protein that day, your whole body will basically store what it doesn't need in your fat cells and that doesn't help you lose weight or inches of your waist line at all.
Pre-packaged deli meat isn't nearly as healthy as you might think it is. You may imagine that a sandwich made from whole wheat bread and pre-packaged lean deli meat makes for a good lunch. The real truth is that pre-packaged deli meat has a lot of preservatives and definately will provide you with about a third of your advised sodium consumption for the day. This is going to be particularly dangerous if you are at risk of contracting heart disease. Instead of picking deli meat, select home grilled chicken or other poultry or fresh deli meat that you can get sliced at the deli counter. Sure these kinds of options are more expensive but they are much healthier for you in the long run.
There are a wide range of things that we assume will help us lose weight like eating a whole wheat bagel each morning but the truth is that eating a bowl of oatmeal sprinkled with cinnamon is a lot better for our health and waist lines. Ask your doctor which elements are the finest to eat and then follow the directions you are given. If you are careful about what you eat and are good to your body, losing weight probably won't be all that big an issue.
